WELCOME

Genealogy is a journey for many of us as we research our family history.  This journey is an adventure into the past, to enjoy in the present and to preserve for the future.

2014 Program Schedule:
 

All programs located at the LaGrange Public Library Community Room unless noted differently.

The Annual Meeting is will begin 6:00 PM on Tuesday April 8 at "Our Place" restaurant located at 202 S Detroit Street, LaGrange,IN.  A buffet dinner will be served; cost $9.00/ person.

Rita Lehner, GIS Director, will present an update of the court house records and demonstrate how to navigate the Beacon website.(http://beacon.schneidercorp.com/)

         County Records Digitalized
We are happy to announce that many old county documents are currently being digitalized.  These include probates, wills,
marriage returns, marriage books & coroner reports from 1853-1940.  Many more to be done.  Please contact Barb or Dalonda for assistance in researching these newly discovered treasures.  These items will be uploaded as permitted.

Look-up Assistance Fee
LCIGS provides a look-up service to assist you in your LaGrange County research. Volunteers have access to many documents not found in the library. 

The new fees were approved Oct 25, 2012. 
1.  $2.00 per item for marriage, death, birth, burial or obits that we have   indexed.
2.  $5.00 per page on microfilm including marriages, obits, divorces, land grants from microfilm.   If  more than one page per item it is additional $2.00.
3. Extensive research including Probate Records, Extensive land grants and  other records that require a good amount of time will be referred to our  genealogists who will set their own fee.  This will depend on the involvement  of the research.  

To obtain any of the above records, please send your request by email to Barb Mulholland  bmulholland@embarqmail.com.

Mail requests to LCIGS, P. O. Box 61, LaGrange, Indiana 46761.  Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope honoring the above fee scale and we will be happy to research your request.
